Mundo Deportivo reports that Hansi Flick has chosen to gather his coaching staff for a private lunch as Barcelona search for stability at the start of the campaign.

It is known that the German is determined to build unity, insisting that strength must come not only from the squad but also from the staff working behind the scenes.

To set the tone, Flick took his assistants to Can Ferran. After training at the Ciutat Esportiva de Sant Joan Despi, the group arrived at the venue, using the occasion to bond and reflect on early challenges.

A much-needed outing

The lunch comes at a delicate moment. Barcelona’s season has already shown worrying signs with a narrow 3-2 win over Levante, followed by a 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano.

Even the 3-0 victory over Mallorca drew criticism from Flick as the opponent was reduced to nine men.

The fixtures ahead underline the urgency, as Valencia await on Sunday, most likely at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. More pressing still is the Champions League opener away to Newcastle on the 18th of September.

Flick has not forgotten how last year’s European campaign began with a 1-2 defeat to Monaco, a stumble that nearly cost them qualification.

This season’s group looks even tougher, with Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea standing in the way.

Managing the minutes

Adding to the challenge, 14 first-team players have been away on international duty.

Their absence has disrupted preparations, but Flick is keen to keep standards high until they return.

The arrival of Thiago Alcantara on the coaching staff has also added fresh energy, reinforcing Flick’s belief that success depends on the collective effort of his assistants.

Last season’s three titles gave him authority in the dressing room, and lunches such as this one are designed to ensure that authority translates into unity when it matters most.
