FC Barcelona’s pre-season is underway, but Hansi Flick has no intention of using the club’s training camp to pressure players who are expected to leave before the transfer window closes.

Despite already identifying the core of the squad he wants for the 2026-27 campaign, the German coach is set to include all available first-team players in Monday’s trip to England, regardless of whether they feature in his long-term plans.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Flick will only confirm the travelling squad on Monday morning, before Barcelona depart for St George’s Park, where the team will remain until August 3 as preparations for the new season continue.

Barcelona are still working on several departures as Deco reshapes the squad following the arrivals of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi.

The club also remain in the market for a new striker, while defensive reinforcements have not been ruled out.

That means some current first-team players could still leave in the coming weeks.

Even so, Flick is not planning to isolate those footballers or send a message by leaving them behind in Barcelona.

Instead, every available player is expected to continue training with the squad until their future is resolved.

A smart approach from Flick

This feels like the right way to handle a delicate period.

Transfer windows are unpredictable, and today’s surplus player can quickly become tomorrow’s important squad member if negotiations collapse or injuries strike. Flick has already shown that he values professionalism above politics.

By allowing every available player to travel, he can maintain high standards while giving individuals the chance to prove themselves in training and pre-season matches. It also prevents the club from weakening its negotiating position by publicly signalling which players are no longer wanted.

Barcelona still have difficult decisions to make before the transfer window closes, but there is no need to rush them.

It is refreshing to see Flick take this stance. It remains to be seen how the German manager handles the out-of-favour players during the matches in England.
