FC Barcelona secured their third win of September, when they defeated Getafe 3-0 in La Liga on Sunday night at Estadi Johan Cruyff.

It was a top performance from the Blaugrana, who never gave their visitors any sniff, as goals from Ferran Torres (2) and Dani Olmo sealed the victory.

The win, though, was soured by the late injury to youngster Fermin Lopez, who left the pitch almost in tears in stoppage time.

Hansi Flick issues Fermin update

Speaking to the media after the game, Hansi Flick discussed his thoughts on the team’s performance and the win on Sunday.

“Three points, 3-0. Everything is fine,” he noted.

On Fermin’s condition, Flick said: “He’ll have tests tomorrow and we’ll see.”

On being asked about Getafe’s aggressive, physical style and their strong challenges on the field during the game, which caused some tension on the field, Flick noted:

“I only focus on my team. When there’s a situation on the pitch, it’s like I want to protect my team. But the important thing is that I’m always focused on my team. I don’t care about the opponents.”

Flick added: “The most important thing is how we play as a team. That we control the ball well. That’s what matters to me.”

The Barcelona manager then expressed happiness at the way his forwards are performing after Ferran scored two goals, while Marcus Rashford and Robert Lewandowski have also been in good nick of late.

“It’s very important. We have a lot of games, every three or four days, and that’s why it’s great to have everyone performing like this,” he said.

Hailing the performance of Dani Olmo, who finally came good this season – scoring and assisting a goal apiece, Flick said:

“As I said, we have between 25 and 27 players, and we need everyone. For me, it’s important that everyone gives their best for our team. He did very well today, and that’s what we want from him.”

On his decision to take Raphinha off at half-time, Flick noted: “Today we decided to substitute Raphinha at half-time because he had a yellow card and we did not want to lose him for the next match.”

When asked about his call to bench Marcus Rashford, days after he scored a match-winning brace against Newcastle United, the manager explained:

“It’s normal. I needed fresh legs. And he’s played minutes. You have to look after the players. I hope Rashford is okay.”

There was also praise for Eric Garcia, as Flick discussed using him at left-back, saying: “Eric, I’ve always said, is an incredible player. He’s at an incredible level, and today was also the case.

“We’ll need him, maybe in that position, because we don’t know when Balde will be available. When you have a player like Eric, it’s good because it allows you to use him in other positions.”

Finally, Flick was asked about his comments on wanting to attend the Ballon d’Or gala today as a respect for the award and the nominees, and whether they were a dig at Real Madrid for boycotting the ceremony last year.

In response, he said: “Come on, please… I’m going to show respect. I don’t like these questions. I know you have to ask them, but I don’t like talking about other clubs. I focus on my own.”
