Barcelona manager Hansi Flick addressed the media ahead of his team’s crucial away fixture against Sevilla.
The German tactician touched on a variety of topics, shedding light on the current state of the squad and other key matters.
When asked about the highly anticipated derby between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, Flick revealed that the team’s immediate focus was solely on their own performance.
However, he acknowledged the magnitude of the fixture, expressing admiration for the match, which is considered one of the best in European football.
“First up is Barça, then we’ll go to dinner and yes, we’ll watch the game. We have to focus on ourselves, but the derby is one of the best games in Europe and I want to see it,” he began saying.

Flick emphasised that the team is in a strong position, with all players available for selection.
He highlighted that having a fully fit squad was crucial, allowing Barcelona to create numerous opportunities in matches and maintain high-level performances.
“We have the whole team available, playing very well and creating many opportunities. But we have all the players available, that is very important.”
Addressing whether Ferran Torres deserves a starting spot, Flick praised the forward’s versatility and professional attitude.
Despite enduring a tough spell with injury, Torres has made a commendable comeback, which has benefited the team significantly.
“He can play in different positions. I am very happy for him. He had a tough time last month due to injury, but he is back and he is very professional. And that is very good for the team,” he noted.
On the recovery of goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Flick kept things discreet, stating that it was a matter being handled privately by medical professionals. Nevertheless, he assured that the goalkeeper was progressing well in training.
“It’s private information with the doctors. He has started training and is doing quite well, we are happy, and everything is going well.”
Meanwhile, Flick remained non-committal about the roles of Gavi, Dani Olmo and Inigo Martinez in the upcoming game but expressed confidence in their abilities, leaving the final decision pending.
“Let’s see. Everyone can play, we’ll see what happens.”

The manager shared that Ansu Fati was making noticeable improvements. Although not fully settled, he said that Ansu is on the right path and remains a viable option for future matches amidst exit rumours.
“Every player, except the injured ones, is there. We’re down to 21 players and Ansu Fati is doing very well.
“He’s improving and that’s what we want. He’s on the right track, but we have to see what happens tomorrow, what the options are…”
The manager highlighted Eric Garcia’s flexibility, noting that the player has performed admirably in the number six role. His recent contributions have been highly valued by the coaching staff.
“We can see that he is fit, he works well. When he plays as a number 6 he does very well, it depends on the circumstances and the game.
“He is a very flexible player. He did a very good job in the last few games. He was happy and so were we.”

Flick appeared relaxed about his contract situation, expressing his enjoyment of coaching Barcelona. With one year left on his deal, he believes there is ample time to discuss future plans.
“I am not under pressure. I love working for this club. We have much more power and the youth players are very good.
“I have time, I have a contract for one more year, that’s a long time for a coach. We will see.”
Flick admitted that it would sometimes be helpful to engage in dialogue with referees. However, he acknowledged the difficulty of their job and expressed openness to any improvements in communication.
“Sometimes it would be nice to talk to the referees, but they make decisions that cannot be changed. It could be a good option, but the job of referees is very hard. If they want to change something, we will be open,” concluded the manager.
Barcelona head into the Sevilla match with confidence, hoping to maintain their momentum under Flick.
