Following Barcelona’s commanding 5-0 win over Daegu FC in the final game of their pre-season tour of Asia, manager Hansi Flick addressed the media to reflect on the team’s condition and individual performances.

The German coach expressed satisfaction with the squad’s mentality, the contributions from La Masia talent, and the importance of flexibility within the team.

Flick was particularly pleased with the involvement of Barcelona’s youth players. “It’s very important to have these players from La Masia,” he said.

“In these three matches, we’ve been able to give almost all of the players 45 minutes. I’m very happy; the players have shown their mentality, and it wasn’t easy due to the weather.”

The coach confirmed that the team will now return to Barcelona, enjoy two days of recovery, and resume training on Thursday as the focus shifts to the Gamper Trophy and La Liga.

On Gerard Martin and Rashford

When asked about Gerard Martin, who has impressed during the tour by adapting to the centre-back role, Flick praised his adaptability.

“He can play centre-back, and that gives us more options. He can also play at full-back. It’s good to have more options because he can help us throughout the season.”

Martin’s versatility could be valuable in a season where squad depth and tactical flexibility will be crucial.

This positional test, according to Flick, mirrors similar experimentation with Eric García, showing that Flick is still evaluating the best combinations before the season officially kicks off.

On Marcus Rashford, who scored his first goal for the club during the match, Flick highlighted his tactical flexibility.

“He can play at number 9 or number 11. We changed it because we had to be careful with Ferrán. We wanted to see how he adapted to the position.”

Lastly, Flick also commented briefly on Hector Fort and Kochen getting minutes.

“There’s nothing to say about that. We have 26 players, four goalkeepers. I’m happy with what I’ve seen; Hector played the other day and did well.

They have trained well, and for me, the Asian tour has been a very important part of the preseason.”

Lastly, the manager also affirmed that there is nothing serious with Pau Cubarsi, and it is just a knock. “He’s fine, it’s just a blow.”
