Leeds United teenager Harry Gray is on the verge of a January loan into the EFL, with a move to Rotherham United being finalised and potentially confirmed in the coming days.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the 17-year-old striker is set to join League One Rotherham for the rest of the season. Leeds view regular football as vital after his five-minute cameo in a 6-0 win over Stoke City last season, and he has not featured since.
Rotherham sit 22nd in League One, two places and five points from safety, after six straight league defeats. They also lost 3-0 to Huddersfield in the Vertu Trophy on Tuesday.
Asked about links to Gray after that game, Matt Hamshaw said: "I can't say anything at this moment. He's a Leeds United player. We've been linked to a number of players. We'll just have to wait and see." The comments were given to the Rotherham Advertiser.
"I think you've seen the weakness in the depth of the squad, unfortunately. That's something that we need to change."
If paperwork is completed before Friday midday, Gray should be eligible to make his debut this weekend, with the Millers visiting promotion hopefuls Stockport County on Saturday.
Gray is already a fan favourite, helped by family ties. Brother Archie played 44 Championship matches in 2023/24 before joining Tottenham Hotspur in a £40million deal, and Farke has urged patience with young strikers, citing Robert Lewandowski, Harry Kane and Erling Haaland.
