Thomas Tuchel was left to sweat over star duo following opening World Cup victory
England captain Harry Kane and midfielder Declan Rice are both ready to play against Ghana on Tuesday.
It comes after there was some concern for both players in the aftermath of Wednesday’s 4-2 win over Croatia in England’s World Cup 2026 opener.
Rice was substituted in favour of Morgan Rogers after 72 minutes at Dallas Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Kane, meanwhile, remained on the pitch for the duration in a game in which he scored twice, but was then photographed wearing strapping around his left leg as he made his way to his friends and family in the AT&T Stadium after the game.
Rice had complained of pain but it is understood that his replacement was only precautionary. Kane’s strapping was to minimise the effects of cramp.

Both Kane and Rice are expected to be part of full training in Kansas City towards the end of the week as England gear up for their second Group L game against Ghana at the Boston Stadium, for which they are both expected to be available.
Rice, the Arsenal midfielder, assisted Bayern Munich’s Kane for the Three Lions’ second goal against Croatia, swinging in a right-footed corner which the forward powerfully converted with his head.
Speaking about Rice after the game, manager Thomas Tuchel said: “Declan pointed to his lower back, upper hamstring and feels some discomfort.
“I didn’t want to take any risks. It was a moment to protect him.
“Declan reassured me at the end it’s good. It’s nothing big to worry about.”
