Three Lions skipper received treatment and hobbled off late after scoring again in Bundesliga win over Eintracht Frankfurt

Harry Kane has offered an update after receiving an injury scare with Bayern Munich just before his scheduled departure for England duty.

The Three Lions captain continued his incredible start to the season on Saturday with an 18th goal in just 10 matches across all competitions, adding to Luis Diaz’s brace as dominant Bundesliga leaders Bayern brushed aside Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 at home to maintain their 100 per cent record.

However, Kane - who has 11 league goals already this term in six outings - was replaced by Chelsea loanee Nicolas Jackson with five minutes remaining at the Allianz Arena, hobbling off with the help of physios after sustaining a knock and needing treatment on the pitch.

The sight of his influential and in-form skipper leaving the field injured will have caused inevitable concern for England boss Thomas Tuchel, whose side host rivals Wales in a high-profile friendly at Wembley Stadium on Thursday night before then travelling to Riga to face Latvia in their latest 2026 World Cup qualifier next week.

However, Kane has now quickly moved to play down any fears over his fitness and insists he will join up with the squad as normal at St George’s Park on Monday.

"I am recovering at the moment - I took a knock," Kane was quoted as saying following the win over Frankfurt by Bayern official website.

"A few days and then I should be fine, so no problem for the national team. I will be there on Monday."

If Kane is not deemed fully fit to face Wales, then Tuchel is currently rather short on out-and-out striking options to deputise, other than Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, who has scored only once for club and country combined so far this season.

Anthony Gordon, Marcus Rashford, Eberechi Eze, Jarrod Bowen and Bukayo Saka were the other forwards named in the latest 24-man England squad on Friday, the latter returning at the expense of injured Arsenal team-mate Noni Madueke.

Bayer Leverkusen’s former Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah also earned a recall with Newcastle’s Tino Livramento ruled out for up to eight weeks with a knee injury suffered in last weekend’s defeat by Arsenal.

However, there was no place for fit-again Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham, with the likes of Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Adam Wharton among the other most high-profile omissions as Tuchel kept changes to a minimum following last month’s qualifying wins over Andorra and Serbia.
