A seemingly nasty looking injury led to England national team captain Harry Kane exiting proceedings early in Saturday evening’s Bundesliga “Top Spiel”. The Bayern Munich professional went down hard after an 81st-minute collision with Eintracht Frankfurt keeper Kaua Santos. Kane received immediate treatment and left the pitch supported and limping in the 85th-minute.
Broadcast cameras caught Kane with his ankle wrapped in ice. Naturally, Kane had to answer questions about the severity of his injury first when speaking to Sky Germany afterwards. The 32-year-old laughed it off in his post-match interview. Like Bayer Leverkusen’s Alejandro Grimaldo, Kane was keen to emphasize that the injury would not jeopardize his coming tour of international duty.
Kane insisted he would be reporting to his former Bayern head coach Thomas Tuchel at the Three Lions base camp after a day’s rest. Kane once again turned in a spectacular match for his Bundesliga club, scoring one goal and came close to grabbing a brace with a strike off the post.
“It should be fine in a couple of days,” Kane said when questioned about his ankle. “I’ll be there Monday.“
