Bayern Munich claimed a crucial 3-2 win over Bundesliga newcomers FC St Pauli to stay six points clear of second-placed Bayer Leverkusen with seven games to go.

Striker Harry Kane played a pivotal role in the victory with a goal and an assist.

The 31-year-old opened the scoring in the 17th minute, but Bayern’s relegation-threatened opponents refused to stay down. They equalised through Elias Saad.

However, Bayern proved too strong as Leroy Sane restored the lead with a vicious hit. Kane then turned provider for the German international to grab his brace.

Kane has now scored against every team he has faced in the Bundesliga. His goal today was his 58th in the league for the German giants in just 57 games.

If Bayern collect five wins from their remaining seven games, they will be home and dry.

Kane has bagged 38 goals and 12 assists in 45 games for club and country this season. He is a solid contender for the Ballon d’Or award.

No one has tallied more goals and assists than Kane since the start of last season in Europe’s top five leagues.

He also has over 100 goal contributions for Bayern – 77 goals and 24 assists – across all competitions.

The German giants are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, where they will face Inter Milan.

Kane is central to their hopes of beating the Serie A champions and reaching the final four.
