Bild reports that Harry Kane has a release clause in his Bayern Munich contract that has been in place since his arrival from Tottenham in 2023.
One of Kane’s goals is to break the Premier League goalscoring record as he currently sits second in the standings, 47 goals behind leader Alan Shearer. When Kane joined Bayern, he wanted a clause inserted in his contract that would allow him to return to the Premier League if an opportunity presented itself.
The 31-year-old has a release clause that could have been triggered in January for a move in the summer that was worth €80m, however, the clause was not triggered and it has now expired. If Kane wishes to move next summer, then a new clause becomes active next January which is then worth €65m, the summer of 2026 would be the last time Bayern could receive a fee for the England captain as his contract expires in 2027.
At the moment, it is unlikely that Kane has any interest in using the clause as he is happy in Munich from a footballing point of view as well as from a private one.
This does not stop Bayern from pursuing Kane’s long-term replacement. RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Seško and Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres are names both mentioned and would both cost €70m, but earn a lot less than the Englishman.
