Ruben Amorim was forced into two injury-enforced changes for Manchester United’s Premier League clash against bogey side Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
Mason Mount and Harry Maguire, the scorer of the winning goal at Anfield, were forced to miss out. But the Red Devils still overpowered the Seagulls 4-2 despite referee Anthony Taylor’s best efforts.
Matheus Cunha finally ended his goalscoring drought, Casemiro grabbed one while Bryan Mbeumo scored a brace to ensure the Red Devils climbed to sixth in the table.
Three wins on the bounce, and the head coach will be desperate for the team to continue their winning run, especially as United are a mere two points off second and six points off the top.
Up next is an away trip to the City ground to face Nottingham Forest, who are without a win in their last eight league games.
On paper it looks like a winnable tie, but with Sean Dyche now at the helm, they can certainly not be taken for granted.
Amorim will need his players fired up once again, and he could do with more experience in his squad. Thankfully, the Portuguese tactician revealed to MUTV that he is hopeful Harry Maguire could be back for next week’s away clash.
“He’s not available for this one (Brighton),” said Amorim. “Hopefully, he’s going to join us next week, but we’ll see.”
He also revealed that the England international was not risked against the Seagulls, and he wanted to give a chance to players who have been working hard behind the scenes.
“I hope to have him next week. It’s a simple thing but you never know. And I don’t like to take risks with players. It’s the wrong thing for Harry and for the team-mates that are working.
“I just want to show, every time, everyone is important in this team. We have a very good squad.”
With the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea all dropping points, United cannot afford a slip-up. Hopefully, the former skipper can return next week and ensure another three points.
