Congratulations to Yui Hasegawa, who has made her 100th senior international appearance for Japan.
The midfielder reached the milestone while wearing the captain’s armband in Nadeshiko’s Asian Cup victory over the Philippines.
A 7-0 triumph in the quarter-finals means Japan now face South Korea in the last four, with a clash against either China or Australia the reward for the victors in the final.
Hasegawa was part of the last Japan side to win the tournament, setting up Kumi Yokoyama for the game’s only goal against Australia in 2018.
That came one year after she’d made her senior Japan debut in March 2017 in an Algarve Cup match against Spain, coming off the bench as a second half substitute when just 20 years old.

Since then, she’s cemented herself as one of her nation’s and world football’s finest midfielders, representing her country at two World Cups and also helping them to SheBelieves Cup glory back in 2025.
Often playing in a more attacking role for Japan, Hasegawa has also chipped in with 20 goals en route to her 100 appearances, including a strike against India in the 2026 Asian Cup.
Everyone at City would like to congratulate Yui on making her 100th Japan appearance!
