According to Sunderland Echo, Hebburn Town manager Daniel Moore said the club are exploring the possibility of re-signing Sunderland academy goalkeeper Isaac Allan on loan. The move would be a second spell for the 20-year-old as the club step up to National League North.
Allan joined the Hornets last season after fellow Black Cats prospect Dan Cameron was recalled from a similar stint at the Trustmark Group Stadium. He produced a series of eye-catching displays that pushed Moore’s side closer to a surprise Northern Premier League title. Sunderland then recalled Allan days before Hebburn sealed the crown with a 2-0 home win over Rushall Olympic on the final day.
Moore is strengthening his squad for non-league’s second tier and a schedule that includes South Shields, Darlington and Morecambe. He has made his first addition by signing Whitby Town striker Jake Charles on Wednesday.
He remains keen to work with Allan and believes the keeper has every chance of a strong career, pointing to his attitude, calmness in and out of possession, ability and mentality. That level of confidence at such a young age, Moore said, made a notable difference for Hebburn.
If a deal cannot be agreed, Moore hopes Allan earns a loan with a National League club or one in the EFL. He believes the goalkeeper deserves that chance and could progress to a higher level regularly, building a successful professional career in the EFL.
