Kim Hellberg says Leo Castledine has been in training ahead of the game against Sheffield Wednesday.

The midfielder has missed the last for games for Boro but could return to the squad on Wednesday.

Morgan Whittaker will also be involved again after returning from injury off the bench in the draw with Ipswich.

But Alfie Jones is still a way off returning, while Riley McGree could again miss out with a knock.

“[Morgan]’s ready. He’s been back with us only a few days, but he’s a very strong boy,” Hellberg said. “He hasn’t been away as long as many of the other ones. It will be a late call if he’s ready to start or not but he’s getting there.

“Alfie is not near. Leo and Riley are getting better. It was only a knock for Riley. I don’t know if it’s too early for this game, but it’s just a matter of time, and Leo is progressing.

“He travelled with the squad because I wanted him just to be around the squad again. To be fair, he hasn’t had so many games in the Championship either, so it’s important for him to travel with the squad. But he’s trained since then, so yeah.”
