Henrique Araújo ‘to play’ for Benfica B after rejecting moves | OneFootball

Henrique Araújo has decided to step down to Benfica B for the remainder of the campaign, Record writes.

The 24-year-old turned down proposals to leave in January. He aims to keep minutes until the summer window, when he will assess his future more carefully.

With a permanent exit not materialising, the striker, who wears 39, rejected offers on the table, including Estoril. He opted against another late loan, mindful that joining a new squad now would place him behind settled players.

Instead, he will seek rhythm with the Nélson Veríssimo-led B side. His deal runs to summer 2027, so entering the final year next term could make a summer move easier. Benfica could try to sell the Seixal academy forward for a fee.

This season he has played 11 competitive matches for the first team, five in the Liga Portugal Betclic, four in the Champions League, one in the Super Cup and one in the Portuguese Cup. Across 135 minutes, he has not recorded a goal or an assist. He is valued at two million euros.
