“Here we go!” Fabrizio Romano confirms Andrey Santos deal struck between United and Chelsea | OneFootball

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester United have reached a full agreement with Chelsea to sign midfield sensation Andrey Santos.

News broke minutes ago via the ever-reliable David Ornstein that a deal had been struck for the midfield enforcer, and Romano has now added his seal of approval to the story.

As previously reported, United will pay a £48 million fee plus £2 million in easily achieved add-ons. Chelsea will retain a 10% sell-on fee.

Romano claims that the deal could be completed as soon as tomorrow. He says:

“Medical now booked in next 24h for Brazilian midfielder.”

“Contract until June 2031 to be signed tomorrow.”

After a quiet period in the transfer market after losing out on Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham Hotspur, INEOS have acted rapidly in getting this deal over the line.

24-hour turnaround

Rumours of United’s interest in the Rio de Janeiro man only really began to build in the last few days. By contrast, agreement was struck for Santos’ countryman Ederson weeks ago, but the deal has still not been completed due to the player being called up for the World Cup.

If indeed Santos signs tomorrow, he is likely to beat his compatriot to become the Red Devils’ first signing of the summer.

The 22-year-old Brazil international represents excellent value for money in this summer’s inflated market. He is an exciting talent, with many seeing him as a natural successor to the outgoing Casemiro.
