Liverpool are now on the brink of a massive transfer.

Things are really starting to heat up in the transfer market. Even with the World Cup still underway, Premier League clubs aren't wasting any time getting deals done.

Liverpool have already secured the signing of Victor Munoz, while clubs like Tottenham and Manchester City continue to work on some major moves of their own.

Munoz definitely won't be the first transfer of the summer either.

This is shaping up to be a huge summer for Richard Hughes.

After facing plenty of criticism following last year's transfer window, the sporting director has a chance to change the narrative - and there's a lot of work ahead of him.

With a new manager bringing a new style of play, Liverpool's squad is going to need some reshaping. Andoni Iraola will want players who fit his system, but more importantly, the Reds simply need reinforcements.

Several key figures have already moved on, with Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson all leaving on free transfers. Replacing players of that calibre is a massive task on its own, and Hughes also has to strengthen the squad's depth at the same time.

The way Liverpool approach this transfer window could have a huge impact on the club's future. This summer is about laying the foundations for long-term success and building on the work Hughes has already started at Anfield.

So, it's time to buckle up and enjoy the ride. These next few weeks might be the calm before the storm, and when the World Cup is over things could heat up really quickly.

One thing is clear, Liverpool are definitely going to be prioritising a move for a winger.

Liverpool were short of options on the flanks last season, much to the dissatisfaction of Arne Slot. The former Liverpool coach often blamed his team's shortcomings on the lack of winger depth, and not having speed nor one vs one ability on the flanks.

It's why Liverpool signed Munoz, he's someone who has that Spanish connection with Andoni Iraola and he also brings a lot of speed and directness in the attack.

Munoz alone won't fix all of Liverpool's problems though. Iraola's side need more pace and more one vs one quality.

Crucially they need to fill the void left behind by Salah's departure. There aren't many players who can live up to the hype. But there is one obvious candidate.

Yan Diomande. He makes the most sense. The way he drives at defenders and beats them for fun is a joy to watch. Diomande is a player who makes the game look easy.

His speed and his one vs one ability are truly elite traits of his game and they are assets that would translate really well in Iraola's team. Diomande is clearly open to a move as well, and everything points towards this being the dream move for the Reds and the one they are trying to prioritise even while the World Cup is on.

It's not going to be easy, though.

Obviously, Liverpool still have to agree a fee and RB Leipzig are tough negotiators. However, one thing might just work in the Reds' favour, and put this blockbuster transfer on the brink of an agreement.

In a now deleted post, but which was stopped by Anything Liverpool, Philipp Hinze was speaking about Castello Lukeba and how RB Leipzig have not yet received any offers for the French centre-back's services.

The key part of the post was that Leipzig needed a big sale this summer, which is what Anything Liverpool spotted before the tweet was deleted.

Now if that is true and Leipzig are struggling to get any offers for Lukeba, then it's very obvious where the big transfer sale will be coming from.

Diomande and Liverpool. The Reds have already made a huge offer worth £86m and they will be going back in with an even bigger offer.
