Here we go: Venezia reach agreement to sign 18-year-old Barcelona gem | OneFootball

FC Barcelona will likely wrap up several of their pending transfer operations in these final days of the summer transfer window. While it remains to be seen if any other new signing will arrive this summer, it certainly looks likely that some names will be headed to different clubs.

Recently, there have been reports suggesting that players like Alejandro Balde still remain linked to various suitors while others like Alvaro Cortes are definitely set to leave the club. Moreover, there is now confirmation of sorts that another player is set to leave Barça this summer.

As per Fabrizio Romano, who has even attached his iconic ‘Here we go’ status to this deal, 18-year-old Toni Fernandez is set to play his football in Serie A from this season onwards. The player is set to join Italian side Venezia, and details about the transfer have been shared as well.

Reportedly, Venezia will pay €4 million for the young talent but the deal will include a 50% sell-on clause as well, which is something that Barcelona have put in to ensure that they retain some level of control over his future. Moreover, there is a buy-back clause included as well for an undisclosed fee.

Across the board, it is certainly a deal that can please all the involved parties. For Barcelona, it generates some useful revenue without completing losing all control over the player’s future, while Venezia get their hands on a talented youngster who can certainly improve their team.

As for Fernandez himself, who was already linked to a move away this summer previously, he will likely be looking forward to getting more regular minutes in a top European league. While it is unfortunate that he will not be able to represent Barcelona as he would have ideally liked, who knows what the future has in store for him and the Catalan club.
