Hervé Renard has been appointed Côte d'Ivoire head coach, replacing Émerse Faé, the Ivorian Football Federation announced on Tuesday.

In early 2026, the Elephants were eliminated in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals by Egypt after a dramatic 3-2 defeat, then exited the 2026 World Cup in the last 32 to Norway, 2-1.

Renard, 57, returns to the Elephants 11 years after his first stint in charge.

He led Côte d'Ivoire from 2014 to 2015, winning the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, his second continental title after lifting it with Zambia in 2012.

The appointment comes only days after the end of Faé’s tenure, with his contract not renewed after the World Cup.
