Hervé Renard has been appointed head coach of Côte d'Ivoire, replacing Émerse Faé. The Ivorian federation announced the move in a statement on Tuesday.
It said his task is to lead the national team through preparation and participation in upcoming international competitions. He is expected in Abidjan in the coming days to take up the role, with a media presentation to follow, details to be confirmed.
Free since the end of his interim with Tunisia during the 2026 World Cup last month, the 57-year-old returns to a job he knows well. He had departed Saudi Arabia two months before the last finals.
Senegal, South Africa and South Korea had explored his availability, but he opted for Côte d'Ivoire.
Renard led the Elephants to the Africa Cup of Nations title in 2015, and this appointment comes nine years on.
