Rudiger left the Blues on a free transfer and signed for Spanish giants Real Madrid in the summer of 2022, having joined from Roma in 2017.
The German international won the Champions League during his time at Stamford Bridge, and made 203 appearances for the Blues.
Chelsea have struggled defensively this season, and have paid the price for not signing a replacement for Levi Colwill, who suffered an ACL injury before the start of the season.
The Blues missed out on Jeremy Jacquet to Liverpool in January, but are expected to sign a centre back this summer.
Chelsea have been linked with Nottingham Forest star Murillo, and Werder Bremen youngster Karim Coulibaly, but what they really need is a top level starting quality centre back.
The Blues arguably haven’t replaced Rudiger, and Adam has urged Chelsea to bring the German international back to Stamford Bridge.
“They [Chelsea] should never have let him go or allowed him [Rudiger] to leave,” he told Sky Sports as quoted on X.com.
“I understand it was Real Madrid he joined but they never should have got to that position where he could leave.
“He’s phenomenal. I’ve said before that he’s the ideal person that Chelsea need back.”
Rudiger is out of contract at the end of the season, and could be available on a free if he can’t agree a new contract.
