Defending champions Hibernian became the first team this season to take points off Scottish Women’s Premier League leaders Glasgow City, drawing 1-1.

Eilidh Adams put hosts Hibs in front after 20 minutes, with Katie Lockwood equalising just after the half-hour mark.

Glasgow City were reduced to ten players shortly before full-time when Lana Golob was sent off.

And Hibernian head coach Grant Scott said afterwards he was pleased with a draw – and didn’t think they deserved all three.

“I think it was a reasonably good game,” Scott told Hibs TV. “It was a hard-fought game.

“I’m not sure the quality was always there from both teams, but you never know how vital these points that you pick up against your competitors are going to be in the end.

“We were here for three (points). I’m not entirely sure we deserved it. I’m thinking on the balance of playing the last spell of the game, I felt we busied their box more than they did ours tonight, but there was not the best quality in our execution.

“I think it’s a good point, but we’ll wait and see in the long run.”

“Hibernian look more like ourselves”

And Scott added that he thought the team was beginning to put on the sort of displays that he expects from them.

“I think that’s two or three performances in a row now that we’ve looked a bit more like ourselves. We are very hungry for more success on the pitch.

“We’re always looking at the games to try and win. We’re very respectful of our opposition, but I think there are enough good moments in the game tonight that we can be very positive and try to take those into the game on the weekend.”

Hibs currently sit fourth in the table. Their next match is in the second round of the Sky Sports Cup, on Sunday, 5th October, when they host Motherwell.

Leanne Ross: We looked tired

Glasgow City head coach Leanne Ross for her part thought fatigue played a part, telling the club’s social media channels: “I thought it was a really tired performance from us tonight, off the back of the intensity of the games that we’ve had recently. I thought we started the game quite well in terms of possession. We didn’t really create a lot tonight.

“Out of possession, we looked really tired, and really big out of possession, and left a lot of space for Hibs to go and play.”
