According to Superdeporte, the former Argentina striker was pictured by a fan in a sports shop, with a fuller beard, a relaxed look and a physique unlike his elite playing days.

Retired since 2022 after his spell with Inter Miami, he keeps a lower profile yet remains tied to sport. He now works on player development within Inter Miami’s project and stays active in padel, winning a title in 2024 in the United States.

The image reignited the familiar debate about how star athletes change physically once they step away, particularly those who spent years under maximum demands.

Higuaín’s 17-year career spanned River Plate, Real Madrid, Napoli, Juventus, Milan and Chelsea, delivering more than 300 professional goals. His Real Madrid tally reached 107.

With Argentina, he was noted both for his finishing and for finals that linger in memory. His miss against Germany in the 2014 final is often cited as the moment that weighs heaviest on an otherwise notable career.
