Hoeneß’s announcement is having an impact: Eberl unveils a new transfer strategy | OneFootball

FC Bayern Munich has certainly been busy this summer. Two new players have already been signed, and Konrad Laimer extended his contract on Monday. Max Eberl is doing his homework—partly because of a directive from the boss. 

There are various reasons why FC Bayern’s sporting director is getting the groundwork done so early this summer. The early signings of Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari are definitely major coups.

Especially since both players made a name for themselves at the World Cup, but FCB was already one step ahead of potential competition.

For Eberl himself, these were important transfers, because this summer will ultimately be decisive for his future. There are still critics within the club who need to be convinced.

Eberl: New Transfer Strategy Thanks in Part to Hoeneß

The fact that the club also managed to extend Konrad Laimer’s contract is another positive development. In addition, revenue has already been generated, for example through the sales of Alexander Nübel and Noel Aseko.

More sales are still on the agenda. Joao Palhinha, Sacha Boey, and Bryan Zaragoza are expected to leave the record champions. However, the really intense pressure has eased for the moment because the groundwork was laid very well and very early on.

So there is definitely a new transfer strategy at Bayern. According to BILD , Eberl is going all out to convince the bosses. This also has to do with a statement by Uli Hoeneß, Bayern’s honorary president.

It all started with the collapsed last-minute deal for Joao Palhinha three years ago, when Eberl wasn’t even in office yet.

Shortly afterward, club chairman Hoeneß told the Süddeutsche Zeitung: “Apart from exceptional cases, we should no longer be in the thick of things on the final day of the transfer window in the future. We used to laugh about this ‘Deadline Day.’” He insisted that, ideally, transfers should be finalized by the start of training.

Last year, Bayern also had to act at the last minute, and the loan of Nicolas Jackson turned into a drama. That, too, was not exactly viewed positively internally. That is to be prevented at all costs this year, and for now, the club is on the right track.
