Andreas Christensen has publicly reaffirmed his desire to remain at Barcelona, offering an encouraging update as discussions over a new contract continue behind the scenes.
The Danish defender has faced a challenging period due to recurring injury problems, but neither the player nor the club appear ready to end their relationship.
In fact, Barcelona are working on a renewal proposal that would extend Christensen’s stay, albeit under revised financial terms.
With his current contract due to expire this summer, the latest comments from the defender suggest there is growing confidence that an agreement can eventually be reached.
Despite speculation regarding his future, Christensen left little doubt when questioned about his situation while away on international duty.

The centre-back was asked directly about the possibility of remaining at Barcelona and responded with a clear indication of where his priorities lie.
“Yes, that’s all I can confirm [that he’d like to stay at Barça]. There isn’t much new to report.
“I don’t have much to share, but I hope to be able to do so soon. Everyone knows what I want and where my mind is, so I hope everything falls into place soon.”
It must be noted that Christensen managed to return before the end of the campaign and made a brief appearance against Valencia on the final matchday, giving supporters a glimpse of his recovery.
The defender also spoke about his current physical condition after spending several months on the sidelines.

“It’s been a long five months, but I feel like I’m in good shape right now. These international matches can help me feel better over the summer.”
Lastly, the defender also addressed concerns regarding his injury record and was keen to clarify the circumstances behind his most recent setback.
“The last injury was the result of an accident in which I got stuck in the grass.”
“I would have loved to have played more minutes, but it wasn’t something I could control,” he concluded.
