While our attention is focused on the All-Star Game and the ongoing MLS regular season, several teams are still actively making moves in the transfer window.

Recently, we discussed that Toronto FC reinforced their midfield with a former Bayern Munich player. Now, the next club in line to possibly close a deal is the Houston Dynamo.

This season, the Dynamo is struggling in defense; although their standings are better than in other seasons, the struggles continue on the left side.

That’s why the MLS team has set its eyes on a Boca Juniors defender, who recently had a stint with Celtic.

Houston Dynamo is interested in signing Marcelo Saracchi, a Uruguayan defender from Boca Juniors

Let's take a look at Marcelo Saracchi's situation at Boca Juniors.

With the arrival of a new head coach, Rodolfo Arruabarrena, the Uruguayan defender has once again found himself out of the starting lineup, prompting the club to look for a move away.

He recently spent time with Celtic in Scotland, where he gained valuable playing experience. However, upon returning to Argentina, he once again found himself on the fringes of the squad, no longer in the coach's plans and now in need of a new club.

Now, with this conforming the primary scenario, the Orange Crush decided that Saracchi could be the way to reinforce one of their weaknesses.

According to the Argentine journalist Augusto Cesar, Boca Juniors have received a formal offer from MLS side Houston Dynamo for Uruguayan left-back Marcelo Saracchi: $1 million for 60% of the player's economic rights.

The market value for the 28-year-old defender is nearing the $2 million mark; however, without the coach’s consideration, the offer presented by the MLS side is more than enough.

However, it’s also true that Boca is a tough team to negotiate with.

With that being said, as of today, Boca Juniors hasn’t decided the left-back’s future.

Per the aforementioned journalist: “Boca's board is now evaluating whether to move forward with the negotiations or wait for an improved offer.”

This deal makes sense for both sides. Boca needs to free up an international roster spot and move on from a player who isn't expected to see many minutes because he isn't part of the head coach's plans.

On the other hand, Houston Dynamo view Saracchi as a solution to their issues at left back.

While it's true they're currently in a playoff spot, you can never have too much depth in defense, and the Orange Crush require reinforcements at the back.

In my personal opinion, I would give this a 50/50 signing. With this, I meant that he could be good, but what he has shown at Boca Juniors isn't the best either.
