CD Castellón have switched focus to 2026/27 after elimination by Almería, and a busy window is expected. Attacking midfielder Álvaro Martín has emerged as a potential first addition.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, he ended his Andorra spell days ago, with recruitment planned for two scenarios while the side chased promotion.

Born in Ocaña, Toledo, Álvaro Martín de Frías turned 25 in January. He joined Real Madrid as a schoolboy and rose to Castilla, after spells with Noblejas and Getafe and loans to Rayo Vallecano, Sibenik under former Castellón coach Sergi Escobar, and Internacional de Madrid, where he scored 10 goals in Primera RFEF.

In 2022/23 he broke through with Real Madrid Castilla under Raúl González Blanco, making 41 appearances and scoring four. That group included several players now in Primera or Segunda.

He then joined Andorra, where across three seasons he played close to 100 games between Primera RFEF and Segunda División.

Martín is a technical, mobile creator who can operate off the left, as a No 10 or as an interior. He is more about invention than power or finishing, a profile that suits Castellón’s possession game.
