The Star reported that Sheffield United earned £7 million from Ahmedhodzic's departure, with a number of add-ons and a sell-on clause.

He arrived at Bramall Lane in 2022 from Swedish club Malmö IF, and instantly became a vital key cog in their team for three full seasons. Ahmedhodzic helped the Blades earn promotion back to the Premier League in his first campaign with the club, and was also instrumental under Chris Wilder last season, which saw them narrowly miss out on the automatic places and subsequent play-off final loss.

With his steely and consistent performances, it's no surprise that the Bosnian attracted attention from European clubs this summer. His heart ultimately was set on the Netherlands with Feyenoord under manager Robin van Persie.

The 26-year-old was thrown straight into the deep end for his new club as he made his debut in their Champions League qualifier against Turkish side Fenerbahçe. Van Persie showed how highly he rates and values his new signing by starting him immediately, in what was a key European clash.

After making his Feyenoord debut back at the start of August, Ahmedhodzic has become a regular starter for the Dutch giants by playing 90 minutes in each and every game since his arrival.

Highlighting his high performance levels, the 26-year-old has kept two clean sheets in five games and merely conceded four goals. The partnership that he has formed with his new teammate Tsuyoshi Watanabe in his early Feyenoord career has been exceptional, as the pair have been rock solid in cutting out any danger.

Even in an attacking sense, the Bosnian provided an assist for Watanabe in their Champions League second leg clash against Fenerbahce, which they went on to lose 6-4 on aggregate.

His start to life in the Eredivisie has also been positive as his new club are currently sitting pretty at the top of the league with maximum points after three games. A win streak that they will for sure want to continue against Heerenveen up next.

Anel Ahmedhodzic has made his feelings clear via social media

Following his Sheffield United exit this summer, Ahmedhodzic was keen to express his positivity towards his new club after his debut performances. The Bosnian has clearly been in high spirits since making the move abroad as via Instagram, the centre-back posted saying: "What a week. Absolutely loved it in my debut, the atmosphere was crazy. Good win but we’re only halfway. See you all Saturday."

After taking to life in the Netherlands like a duck to water, it sure seems that the £7 million move was a good deal for all parties involved, as Feyenoord are reaping the rewards from his performances, Ahmedhodzic himself is starting a new chapter in his career as he enters his prime years, and as for Sheffield United, they have been able to bring in defensive reinforcements to fill the void his left.

The arrival of the likes of Ben Mee, Ben Godfrey, Mark McGuinness, and Japhet Tanganga, have all been suitable replacements for the outgoing Bosnian. They will look to shore up the defence post-international break after a leaky start to the season in terms of goals conceded.
