For the second time in three days, Blues recorded a 4-0 success in B9, having dished out the same scoreline to John Mousinho's below-par Portsmouth side on Saturday afternoon, a game in which the Austrian opened his account for the season with a powerful second-half header.

It was more of the same from Chris Davies' outfit against Alex Neil's in-form Lions side on Tuesday night too, with Seung-ho Paik opening the scoring having done exactly that against Pompey, before further strikes from Demarai Gray, Alex Cochrane and Jay Stansfield reflected what was a dominant performance from start to finish from Birmingham, who ended their opponents' unbeaten away record in the process.

The opening 14 matches of the Championship campaign have been particularly intriguing when assessing developments at St. Andrew's, with many expecting the West Midlands side to mount an immediate bid for back-to-back promotions to the Premier League, having enjoyed the mother of all record-breaking seasons in League One last time out in Klarer's first season with the club.

Since his arrival, the 25-year-old has asserted himself as a firm favourite with supporters, forming strong partnerships with Krystian Bielik and Ben Davies last season, before now doing the same with summer arrival, Phil Neumann, at the heart of defence.

As such, it was of very little surprise when Klarer was appointed as permanent captain when Bielik departed for local rivals, West Bromwich Albion in August, and he is now back in a rich vein of form alongside his teammates.

Throughout the entirety of Blues' starting lineup and substitutes who made it onto the pitch, you would be hard-pressed to see many Bluenoses picking any faults with the performances aside from the fact the scoreline was only 4-0.

Klarer, as has so often been the case, put in a consistent performance alongside Tomoki Iwata - who has provided versatile cover at right-back in recent times - Neumann and Cochrane, who scored the goal of the night with a sweet volley after 49 minutes.

As a result, the former Southampton man and his colleagues were able to snuff out the attacking threat normally posed by Mihailo Ivanovic, Thierno Ballo, Luke Cundle and Camiel Neghli.

Klarer also continued to showcase why he is viewed as a 'rolls-royce' defender with a pass completion rate of 93 percent.

After the full-time whistle, the club captain was one of many players to take to Instagram, issuing his thoughts on another standout victory for his side, and its one which will also offer Bluenoses plenty of encouragement that their side have finally turned a corner at the right time.

"Another strong performance . Hungry for more," he stated.

This, unsurprisingly, was met by a raft of comments from supporters, including a parent of the two youngsters present in Klarer's selected picture from the pre-match walkout, who were mascots for the fixture.

Another comment came from Blues' official account, who simply referred to Klarer as: "The Wall."

After a patchy run of form, belief has been reinstated at St. Andrew's as a result of the past two showings, in which Blues have eradicated any attacking woes, whilst also returning to a solid defensive unit.

Plenty of spotlights have been cast on the Second City outfit this season due to developments on and off the pitch, but the main focus has to be the present for Klarer and his team.

Back-to-back victories have seen Blues rise up to ninth in the table ahead of Wednesday night's fixtures, as they find themselves just six points behind second-place Stoke City.

Davies' men now go to Middlesbrough full of confidence that a third straight win can be achieved, with Rob Edwards' side in mixed form of late after a strong start of their own.
