Sweden international midfielder Jens Cajuste will be back playing in England again next season, as Ipswich Town have signed him on another loan deal from Italian champions Napoli.

The instrumental midfielder, who made 33 appearances for Kieran McKenna's side last season on another loan deal, returns with Town having to pay the Italian giants €2m for an initial loan fee, which roughly equates to £1.75m.

If the Suffolk club are to return to the top division at the first time of asking, then, like prospective fellow new arrival Chuba Akpom, the Tractor Boys will pay €7.5m (£6.5m) for him to return permanently next season due to the obligation to buy in the deal.

Cajuste was a fan favourite in what was a relatively difficult campaign for Town last season, and many will see this as a huge coup given that he was really close to joining Turkish giants Besiktas earlier in the window.

Town players are delighted that he's back

And it isn't only the supporters that will be looking forward to seeing the combative Swede in the second tier this term, but the players are certainly looking forward to him being back in blue.

The comments on his Instagram post confirming the move back to Suffolk were full of welcome back messages, and some familiar accounts even got involved.

New club captain Dara O'Shea commented saying: "Welcome home 💙", whilst Conor Chaplin also said: "Let’s go Jensman'.

This signing was imperative for Town

As was perhaps to be expected, McKenna has witnessed something of a squad overhaul this summer.

In the engine room in particular, the Tractor Boys have lost the services of club captain Sam Morsy, as well as Massimo Luongo and Kalvin Phillips. Therefore, the transfer activity for Town had to be lively - and that certainly appears to be the case ahead of their first game of the Championship season against Birmingham City.

Highly-rated Dutch midfielder Azor Matusiwa has arrived from Rennes for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £7.8m, with a potential scenario being that those two partner each other in midfield for the game at St.Andrew's @ Knighthead Park.

Experience has also been key on the agenda for McKenna this summer as he looks to secure promotion at the first time of asking after a Premier League season in which they were relatively competitive, and he has made a shrewd acquisition in bringing in 40-year-old Ashley Young after the expiry of his contract at Everton, with experienced goalkeeper David Button also coming in to be the supposed deputy to Alex Palmer.

Cedric Kipre has returned to the Championship for Town as well, with the ex-West Bromwich Albion centre-back signing from Reims in France, with loanees such as Cameron Humphreys and Elkan Baggott perhaps hoping to see more first-team action this year now, given that Town are back in the second tier.

The signing of the ex-FC Midtjylland and Reims midfielder Cajuste though does really showcase that McKenna's side mean business this season, as the Ed Sheeran-sponsored side will be hoping for a Perfect campaign.
