How Flamengo intend to approach the transfer window

Flamengo are using the World Cup break to refine plans for the second half of the year, with modest early spending expected. According to Globo.com, the club are assessing targets within a limited budget.

Two factors frame the window. Heavy early outlay, including Paquetá’s arrival, has squeezed negotiating power, and there has been no major sale yet, which, if it happens, would expand room to spend.

Barring a standout opportunity, the focus is on younger, affordable signings, with Brazil and the wider South American market prioritised. Moves for Kaio Jorge, Luiz Henrique or Danilo would be costly and complex, limiting scope elsewhere.

Recruitment will be guided by three pillars, technical quality, speed and fitness, with players under 26 preferred and profiles different to the current squad.

Priority positions are a centre-forward to compete with Pedro and an attacking midfielder to back up Arrascaeta. A left-back and a defensive midfielder are also on the list.

Key players, especially those at the World Cup, may attract bids, but the plan is to keep the core for Leonardo Jardim.

To raise funds, some could be available. Everton Cebolinha will not renew in December and could leave if a suitable offer arrives, avoiding a free exit. Wallace Yan and Luiz Araújo may also have offers assessed.

Carrascal’s exit is complicated by last year’s 12 million euro (R$ 77 million) outlay. Pulgar’s release clause will drop to 4 million dollars (R$ 20 million), and any sale would yield little return.
