Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City players have taken a break from chasing down Arsenal to go and represent their countries. Here is how they have been getting on over the international break.

Erling Haaland’s goals have fired Norway into the World Cup for the first time in nearly 30 years. The striker netted two braces against Estonia and Italy, with his nation running out 4-1 victors in both matches.

His 16 goals across the eight qualifying matches more than double any other European player’s tally. Haaland scored in every single qualifier and Norway will now appear at the World Cup for the first time since 1998.

City teammate Oscar Bobb also featured in both of Norway’s 4-1 wins, and provided an assist against Italy.

Meanwhile, Gianluigi Donnarumma did not feature in Italy’s first match but played in their second game against Norway. The goalkeeper leaked four goals in the decisive match and the Azzurri will now have to qualify for the World Cup via the playoffs.

Elsewhere, Nico O’Reilly made his international debut and played every minute for England across the break. John Stones also played every minute as the Three Lions won 2-0 against Serbia and also against Albania.

Phil Foden also made his return to Thomas Tuchel’s squad. He twice impressed off the bench, assisting Eberechi Eze against Serbia. James Trafford was an unused substitute in both of England’s games.

Tijjani Reijnders played in both of the Netherlands’ matches, recording a goal and an assist against Lithuania. Dutch teammate Nathan Ake also played the full 90 minutes in their 4-0 victory over Lithuania.

Matheus Nunes featured off the bench for Portugal in their 9-1 demolition of Armenia. It was his first international appearance in over 16 months.

Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva started both of Portugal’s matches as they secured World Cup qualification, despite a disappointing loss against Ireland. The duo were seen remonstrating with their own fans after the unexpected defeat.

Josko Gvardiol equalised for Croatia against the Faroe Islands, in a game that they went on to win 3-1. The defender also started in a victory over Montenegro, which confirmed Croatia’s World Cup qualification.

Abdukodir Khusanov played the full match for Uzbekistan as they defeated Egypt 2-0 in a friendly. Omar Marmoush did not feature in that game, although he did start and score in Egypt’s second friendly against Cape Verde, a 1-1 draw.

Rayan Ait-Nouri was also in action in a friendly. He started for Algeria against Zimbabwe, which they won 3-1.

Rayan Cherki appeared in both of France’s two victories across the break. The attacker started in their win against Ukraine that confirmed their World Cup qualification.

Jeremy Doku played the full match as Belgium were held to a 1-1 draw by Kazakhstan. However, they are still on track to qualify for the World Cup, as they face Liechtenstein in their final group game.
