Lazio are one game from a Coppa Italia final, having drawn 2-2 with Atalanta in the first leg, and their recent semi-final record tells a mixed story.
According to The Laziali, Sarri’s side have steadied in recent weeks despite a chaotic season of fan unrest and key departures. They have won three straight in Serie A, beating AC Milan and Bologna.
Bookmakers price them as 13/2 outsiders, with Inter even money, Atalanta 3/1 and Como 5/1.
Two years ago, Sarri had led Lazio to the last four before resigning, leaving Igor Tudor in charge against Juventus. Juve won the first leg 2-0 in Turin through second-half goals from Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic.
In Rome, Taty Castellanos struck twice to level the tie 2-2 on aggregate five minutes after the interval, but Arkadiusz Milik netted seven minutes from time to send Juventus through. Juve later beat Atalanta in the final, Vlahovic scoring the winner.
Five years earlier, Simone Inzaghi’s Lazio edged AC Milan 1-0 on aggregate, Joaquin Correa deciding the second leg at San Siro after a goalless opener in Rome.
They then defeated Atalanta 2-0 in the final with late goals from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Correa, sealing a second Coppa Italia in three seasons and a third straight year of silverware.
