Thomas Frank has revealed whether he wants to return to football management this summer, amid Birmingham City's interest in his services.

The 52-year-old was sacked by Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur on 11 February, following a run of just two wins in 17 top-flight attempts after joining from Brentford.

Frank's immediate Spurs successor, Igor Tudor, subsequently left the North London club on 29 March following a disastrous reign, and they went on to narrowly avoid relegation to the second tier under Roberto De Zerbi's stewardship.

If Tottenham had lost to Everton on the final day of the Premier League season, they would have been relegated to the Championship, because West Ham United defeated Leeds United.

However, De Zerbi's men beat the Toffees instead, meaning that the Hammers will be playing in the second tier for the first time since the 2011/12 campaign next term.

Meanwhile, Football League World exclusively revealed in April that Birmingham City were eyeing a move for Frank amid speculation surrounding the position of current head coach Chris Davies, having led the club to a mid-table finish amid significant expectation and expenditure following their 2025 League One title triumph.

Birmingham's ambitious ownership group, Knighthead Capital Management, have, of course, spent handsome sums of money in recent transfer windows and are plotting a further promotion to the Premier League, although Davies now looks set to remain in the Second City for a third campaign at this moment in time.

Frank was a largely successful boss throughout his time at Brentford, but he failed to prove his worth at Spurs, hence his dismissal in February.

The former Bees manager took charge of the West London outfit in 2018 and led them to the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Swansea City in the 2021 Championship play-off final.

He subsequently made Brentford a comfortable top-flight outfit, most notably steering them to a ninth-place finish at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Meanwhile, reporting via X on Friday, Sky Sports News' Lyall Thomas revealed that Frank has confirmed he will not be returning to management this summer, and has chosen to continue his break following his Tottenham dismissal.

His report added that the former Spurs boss said: "When the time is right, I will look forward to my return as a manager, ready to embrace the job with great energy and dedication."

Frank's final game in charge of the North Londoners saw them lose 2-1 to Newcastle United, courtesy of goals from Malick Thiaw and Jacob Ramsey, either side of Archie Gray's equaliser.

Chris Davies could soon come under Birmingham pressure despite Thomas Frank news

The fact that Frank isn't seeking an imminent return to management is good news for Davies, as one of the potential replacement options Birmingham have plotted is unavailable.

However, Davies failed to lead Blues to consistency throughout most of the recently concluded season, leading to questions regarding his management amid his club's lofty ambitions.

According to TEAMtalk, Birmingham want to sign Leeds United forward Joel Piroe, which will bolster their chances of enjoying a more successful promotion bid next term.

However, acquiring talented players such as Piroe will also heap more pressure and expectation on Davies' shoulders.

If the 41-year-old oversees a slow start to next season, he could even be sacked.
