Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé on Wednesday moved a significant step closer to breaking an all-time club record held by none other than Cristiano Ronaldo.

This comes after the Frenchman added to his tally in front of goal courtesy of another brace.

Frontman Mbappé was for his part in from the off this evening, as Real Madrid made the trip to Bilbao for a La Liga meeting with Athletic Club.

And en route to an eventual 3-0 rout, the 26-year-old proved himself the star of the show once again.

Of his side’s three goals, Mbappé played a direct hand in all three, by way of a double alongside an assist.

And as alluded to above, in the process, the former Paris Saint-Germain standout inched towards a place in the Blancos history books.

As revealed by statistician MisterChip, Mbappé has now racked up 55 goals for Real Madrid this calendar year.

The all-time record for as much is currently held by Cristiano Ronaldo, who once found the net 59 times for the capital club across the 12 months between January and December.

Mbappé therefore requires five more goals in his next five appearances to secure the record for himself.
