James Maddison has been linked with a return to Coventry City this summer
Coventry City are preparing for life back in the Premier League following their title triumph under Frank Lampard.
The Sky Blues earned their place in the top two with a 1-1 draw away to Blackburn Rovers before a 5-1 victory at home to Portsmouth clinched the title.
Lampard’s side have occupied a top two spot for the majority of the campaign, and have now ended a 25 year absence from the top flight.
Their attention will now turn to the upcoming summer transfer window, as the club looks to build a squad capable of surviving in the Premier League.
It has already been reported by Football Insider that James Maddison could be a target, with a reunion with the 29-year-old on the cards amid Tottenham Hotspur’s difficult campaign.
Here we use estimated figures from Capology to see how much Coventry would have to pay Maddison if he joined from the London outfit…

Maddison made the switch to Spurs in the 2023 summer transfer window following Leicester City’s relegation to the Championship.
The playmaker signed for the Premier League giants in a deal worth a reported £40 million, becoming a key figure in the side under Ange Postecoglou.
He joined on a five year deal that runs until June 2028, and which sees him receive a weekly wage worth £170,000.
The 29-year-old is not the highest paid player in Roberto de Zerbi’s side, with the Italian taking charge in March amid the club’s relegation battle.
Summer signing Xavi Simmons arrived from RB Leipzig and became the club’s top earner, with a pay of £195,000 per week.
Cristian Romero is also paid £195,000 per week, leaving Maddison as the third highest earner in the squad.
However, the England international has yet to make an appearance for the club this season.
Maddison made his return to the bench for Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against Brighton earlier this month, as he continues his recovery from an ACL injury suffered last May.

Luke Woolfenden arrived at the CBS Arena in the summer following an agreement with Ipswich Town after their relegation to the Championship.
The defender became the highest paid player in Lampard’s side, agreeing a three-year deal worth £25,000 per week.
It is difficult to foresee Coventry paying the full £170,000-a-week to Maddison that he currently receives at Spurs.
The midfielder will have to be willing to take a significant pay cut in order to return to his former club, where he came through the academy system.
He enjoyed two seasons in the first team squad, making 35 league appearances in that time, before joining Norwich City.
Woolfenden is one of four players that receives £25,000 per week, which also includes Ellis Simms, Haji Wright and Matt Grimes.
Kaine Kesler-Hayden is the next highest earner with a £20,000-a-week salary, highlighting the difference in investment needed in the Premier League compared to the second tier.
