The Moroccan has sparked plenty of discourse with a fresh round of comments on his future

Watford FC have, like many sides in the division, endured a rather mixed start to the Championship campaign.

Unsurprisingly though, the stereotypical turnover and chaos which has become synonymous with the Hornets hasn't exactly gone away in the opening three months of the campaign, with Javi Gracia now into his second spell in charge at Vicarage Road following the dismissal of Paulo Pezzolano in early October.

Being a fan's favourite from his first spell in Hertfordshire, the Spaniard is clearly aware of how to get those on the terraces onside, despite the fact there is still a frustration being showcased towards the Pozzo family and the hierarchy as to how the club is run as a whole.

Gracia has overseen six matches since returning to the club immediately after his Uruguayan predecessor was relieved of his duties, with Watford winning two, drawing two and losing as many of those encounters in equal measure, with a 1-1 draw against Bristol City on November 7th leaving the Yellows in 15th place after the opening 15 encounters of the Championship season, with a total of 20 points seeing them placed just five points outside the play-offs with 31 games remaining.

However, it's fair to say their season could have already had a different outlook if it wasn't for the high-profile qualities of Imran Louza, with the Moroccan already posting his best output at the club within the season's early weeks, scoring six times and posting a further four assists in all competitions.

However, the 26-year-old has plunged his immediate future into jeopardy through an interview with Ouest-France during the international break.

Having previously been the subject of exit talk, Football League World has looked into Louza's ESTIMATED salary at Vicarage Road.

Louza has been a constant link between several managers and head coaches of the Hornets in recent years, initially joining for £10m from his hometown club, Nantes, in the summer of 2021.

Despite Watford's immediate return to the Championship, Louza's importance to the club was evident as he penned a contract extension until the summer of 2028 back in September 2022.

During his three-and-a-quarter seasons of second-tier football in England, the 14-time international has posted a total of 29 goals and assists in 81 appearances, but also spent half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan with FC Lorient.

Speculation over his long-term future with Watford was rife in the summer though, with reports that Louza had handed a transfer request a week after Pezzolano's appointment surfacing, as well as a seven-figure bid from Lokomotiv Moscow coming in the final week of the summer window.

After a fine start to the campaign, hints of a January or summer exit have come to the fore, with the Watford captain stating: “We’ll see. It’s true that I want to experience something different, the club is aware of that, they know what I want.

“But now that the transfer windows are closed, I’m focused on my club. What’s meant to happen will happen in January or next summer. If I have opportunities that suit me, I’ll make the best decision.”

With Watford still in a strong position to command a hefty fee due to Louza's contract situation, any potential suitors may also have to match a significant wage packet which, according to Capology, is £32,500 per week.

This makes the deep-lying midfielder the second-highest earner in Gracia's squad, with Moussa Sissoko topping the charts with a £45,000 per week salary.

Given the aforementioned comments, Gracia will hope Louza sticks to his word and remains committed to Watford's play-off ambitions, with a top-six finish still extremely possible due to the congested nature of the Championship table.

As captain, the respect he has gained from several young talents was evidenced through the plaudits he received after a stunning assist for Marc Bola in the recent 1-1 draw against the Robins in front of the Sky Sports cameras. However, it is just as clear that Louza's ability and ceiling is far greater than the second-tier in the eyes of many.
