Stoke City and Leicester City have both been linked with a move for the Torino winger
Leicester City and Stoke City could well reignite their winter window interest in Torino winger Alieu Njie when the market reopens in the summer, with more transfer interest expected.
The Foxes have dropped into a relegation battle as a result of a six-point deduction penalty received in February, leaving the club at risk of going down for a second season in a row.
While their league status for next year remains up in the air, the recruitment staff will still be scouring the market to find any potential talents that can be signed to improve the first team squad.
Financial issues have hurt their ability to spend in recent years, but Leicester will be hoping that those problems are behind them now.
Meanwhile, Stoke have been unable to sustain a push for a play-off place under Mark Robins, and their transfer business this summer will likely focus on how to bridge that gap to the top teams.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the two clubs showed an interest in the forward in the January transfer window, alongside Premier League team Wolves, and his current lack of game time could lead to an exit this summer.

Njie came through the academy system at Torino, breaking into the first team squad during the 2024/25 campaign.
However, he has been unable to establish himself as a key part of the Serie A side in that time, starting just one of his 25 appearances in the top flight.
He’s so far contributed two goals and one assist, with the team currently sitting 15th in the table, with the club looking to avoid relegation this year.
The 20-year-old’s contract runs until the summer of 2029, but his lack of game time could open the door to an exit in the upcoming transfer market.
Njie is currently estimated to be paid £9,296 per week, which also puts him near the bottom end of the wage structure at Torino - something for Leicester, Stoke or Wolves to indeed consider if they reignite their interest in the summer.
Only Emirhan İlkhan, Zanos Savva, Sergiu Perciun and Lapo Siviero are on lower salaries with the Italian club.
The quartet earn £5,810, £4,648, £4,648 and £3,652 per week, respectively, which pales in comparison to their top earner.
Duvan Zapata is paid £83,001 per week by Torino, making him their highest paid star, with Ché Adams in second with a salary of £55,278 per week.

Stoke don’t have any players earning an estimated figure close to what Zapata is making with Torino, with Ben Gibson’s £35,000 per week salary being the highest in the squad.
However, there are a number of players with a similar figure to Njie’s, with Lamine Cissé receiving £10,000-a-week.
Other players around that mark include Ben Pearson (£8,000 per week) and Ato Ampah (£7,500 per week).
Meanwhile, the highest paid Leicester player is Harry Winks, with the midfielder receiving an estimated £90,000 per week from the Foxes.
But then the likes of Abdul Fatawu, Stephy Mavididi and Jakub Stolarczyk all earn £10,000 per week, marginally more than the Torino forward.
So there is no doubt that either Championship side could afford to add Njie’s wages this summer, if they want to reignite their winter interest in him.
