Manhoef may make a move to the Scottish champions this summer

Stoke City star Million Manhoef is reportedly attracting the attention of Scottish giants Celtic ahead of a potential move away from the Potteries in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Manhoef, 23, has been one of Stoke's key players since his arrival from Eredivisie outfit Vitesse last January, and his ability and talent at this level has been very clear to see over the previous 14 months.

He quickly became one of the Potters', and the Championship's, most exciting wingers in 2023/24 as he registered four goals and an assist in 14 games and played a key role in their eventually successful bid to avoid relegation to League One.

The Dutchman's good performances have continued this term, after he remained at the bet365 Stadium despite interest from Leeds United, and he has registered six goals and four assists in 35 appearances in all competitions this season, while also dealing with a serious ligament injury.

His impressive showings have alerted Scottish champions Celtic to his availability this summer, with Alan Nixon recently reporting that the Bhoys are looking at him as a potential squad signing, while Stoke may be happy to sell him if the price is right.

According to Capology's estimates, Manhoef earns a weekly wage of £12,500 each week at the bet365 Stadium, which puts him on par with midfield teammate Tatsuki Seko, who joined Stoke from J-League side Kawasaki Frontale last summer.

The Dutch under-21 international's weekly wage means he earns an estimated £650,000 in a year while with the Potters, which equates to £1.95m across the rest of his contract, provided he sees it out at the club until 2027, which may not happen in the face of the interest from Celtic.

Manhoef's wages took a sharp increase when he joined Stoke from Eredivisie outfit Vitesse, according to Capology's estimates, after he had to leave his boyhood club at the start of last year due to their financial struggles.

He was believed to be earning £1,608 a week with the Dutch side, or £83,625 in a year, which is a wage that pales in comparison to his current earnings with the Potters.

Million Manhoef's Stoke earnings compared to his team-mates

While he is still earning a decent wage compared to a lot of his teammates, Manhoef may well be disappointed to learn who earns more than him at Stoke, according to Capology, when his impact on the team is compared to theirs.

Stoke's apparent highest earner is club captain Ben Gibson, who earns an estimated £35,000 per week. The 31-year-old, however, has only started half of the Potters' league games so far this term, and has struggled to make a real impact.

Sam Gallagher being the second-highest earner at the club, on a £25,000 weekly wage, according to Capology's estimates, may come as a shock to Potters fans and Manhoef, given his standing in the squad this season and how he has struggled for form and fitness since his move from Blackburn Rovers.

Capology also state that veteran left-back Enda Stevens earns more than the 23-year-old, on £15,000 per week, and that may also come as a surprise to Manhoef, since the Republic of Ireland international is now the Potters' second-choice left-back due to Eric Bocat's good form.

With that said, a move north of the border to a club the size of Celtic may well appeal to Manhoef for numerous reasons. Not only do they compete for trophies and in European competition each year, but he will likely also be in line for a wage increase, given their estimated £475,788 weekly spend on player wages compared to the Potters' estimated £302,750.
