It has been reported the exact fee that Millwall will receive following Zian Flemming's move to Burnley becoming permanent this summer.

Last summer, following their relegation down to the Championship, Burnley embarked upon a transfer window that would almost entirely shake up their squad and, as has now been proven, would ensure an immediate automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

One of their latest of their many signings was that of Millwall attacker Zian Flemming, who made the move to Turf Moor on transfer deadline day on an initial loan deal with an obligation to purchase at the end of the season, regardless of where Burnley ended up in the second-tier.

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder, who has been deployed up-front on many occasions under the management of Scott Parker, has enjoyed an impressive campaign for what has been, in relative terms, a low-scoring promoted side.

After starting as the lone striker in Burnley’s 2-1 crucial defeat of Sheffield United at Turf Moor on Easter Monday as the Clarets ensured a top two spot in the Championship, it has now been reported exactly how much the Lancastrians will play for the Ajax academy graduate.

Flemming’s impact at Burnley and in England

Flemming arrived in England in the summer of 2022, signing for Millwall for a fee believed to be in the region of £1.7 million from Fortuna Sittard and he had a positive affect on the Lions in his first season, scoring 15 goals in 43 appearances as they narrowly missed out on a top six finish in the 2022/23 campaign.

The following season was less impressive as Millwall struggled for much of the season but he was once again instrumental in their final few months as they eventually comfortably retained their second division status.

His move to expected title challengers Burnley last summer came late in the window and there would have to have been doubt about how he would fare in Parker’s competitive and talented squad.

Once he had found some real rhythm and fluency to his game around Christmas, the former PEC Zwolle and NEC Nijmegen man never looked back, hitting ten goals with a couple of assists in 23 appearances in the league since mid-December.

Only captain Josh Brownhill, with 16 goals across all competitions, has scored more than the 12 that Flemming has notched as the most consistently effective attacker in a Burnley side that have focused on their immense defensive record.

No bonus for Millwall

Now that their ascension to the top-flight has been mathematically confirmed, it has been reported by the South London press that there is no Burnley promotion bonus for Millwall.

That means the Bermondsey-based outfit will receive £7 million and no more for sanctioning his departure last August which, at the time, was a club record sale but has since been surpassed by the reported £14.5 million sale of Romain Esse to their south London rivals Crystal Palace in the winter transfer window.

Burnley themselves received an awful lot of money in player sales last summer with the departures of the likes of, in chronological order, Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Arijanet Muric, Lawrence Vigouroux, Samuel Bastien, Wilson Odobert, Scott Twine, Sander Berge, Anass Zaroury, Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Dara O’Shea, Ameen Al Dakhil, Wout Weghorst, Luke McNally and Vitinho.
