Gabriel Sara's future is up in the air just two years after leaving Norwich City
Norwich City are aiming to compete for promotion to the Premier League this season after a promising end to 2025/26.
Philippe Clement turned things around in the second half of the previous campaign after his arrival as head coach in November.
The 52-year-old led the Norfolk outfit to ninth in the table, with the club missing out on a play-off place by just eight points.
The Championship will also be expanding the play-offs in 2026/27 to include two more teams, so a top eight finish will now be enough to contend for a place in the Premier League.
This presents a new opportunity to Norwich, who are entering their fifth consecutive season at this level.
And the club could receive a financial boost before the campaign even gets underway, with speculation mounting on the future of former player Gabriel Sara.

Sara initially signed for Norwich in the 2022 summer transfer window, arriving from Sao Paulo in Brazil.
He made 86 appearances in two seasons in the Championship, contributing 20 goals and 16 assists, helping the Canaries earn a play-off place in 2024 under David Wagner.
However, defeat to Leeds United in the semi-finals ended their promotion hopes, and ultimately led to Sara’s departure in a deal worth €18 (£15.3) million.
And it has now been reported by Turkish outlet Sporx that Aston Villa are now readying an offer for the forward.
It’s believed that the Premier League side are willing to pay €30 (£25.5) million for the Brazilian.
It was previously claimed that Norwich included a sell-on clause as part of the sale of Sara in 2024, meaning the Championship side will be in line for a financial boost if this deal comes to fruition.
While the size of the sell-on clause remains unclear, a fee that’s worth 10 to 20 per cent of the profit on the deal would net the Canaries between €1.2 and 2.4 (£1 and 2 million).
And if it’s worth between 10 and 20 per cent of the total fee, then it would be even more lucrative at £2.5 to 5 million.

Sara has spent two seasons competing in the Turkish Süper Lig with Galatasaray, and has helped the team win the league on both occasions.
The 27-year-old has made 58 appearances in the league, contributing seven goals and 12 assists in that time.
The winger has also gained valuable experience of European football, which will be quite appealing for Villa given they’ve qualified for the Champions League under Unai Emery.
Sara has made nine appearances in the Europa League, as well as 12 in the Champions League, registering one goal and two assists across the two competitions.
The former Norwich star has a contract with Galatasaray until June 2029, but could make his return to English football this summer, if a deal can be struck between them and Aston Villa.
Clement’s side will begin their Championship season on 15 August with a home clash against West Brom.
