Seamus Coleman has been linked with a move to Wrexham and Blackburn Rovers

Wrexham finished seventh in the Championship table last season and will now be aiming to repeat that feat again in 2026/27.

The play-offs will be expanding from the next campaign to include two additional sides, so the top eight will be in contention for promotion to the Premier League.

Phil Parkinson’s side have enjoyed an impressive rise up the English football pyramid in recent years, enjoying three consecutive promotions before cementing their place in the second tier in the previous term.

The summer transfer window will now be their priority, as they look to strengthen their chances of earning a place in the top flight.

Seamus Coleman has emerged as a target following his exit from Everton, although Wrexham face competition from Blackburn Rovers, as well as newly-promoted Hull City.

Here we use estimated figures from Capology to see how much the Ireland international earned in his final season with the Toffees amid speculation over a move to the Championship

Coleman established himself as a modern club legend during his lengthy stint at Everton in which he made over 400 appearances.

The Ireland international struggled for game time in his final campaign with the Merseyside outfit, playing just five times in the Premier League, including only one start.

However, he proved himself as a crucial figure over the years after signing from Sligo Rovers in 2009.

As part of his final year with Everton, Coleman received £55,000 per week, making him a middle-of-the-road earner in David Moyes’ squad.

He earned more than the likes of Thierno Barry and Iliman Ndiaye, who are both on £45,000 per week deals, as well as Tyler Dibling, who is paid £40,000-a-week.

However, he was far from the top earner at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with that honour going to England international Jordan Pickford.

The goalkeeper receives £150,000 per week from the Premier League side, while Jarrad Branthwaite, Idrissa Gueye and James Tarkowski are all paid £120,000-a-week.

Wrexham will be aiming to close the gap to the top teams in the Championship, and the possibility of signing Coleman could help in that goal.

But their top earner last year, Kieffer Moore, received just £30,000 per week, in comparison to the full-back.

So if Coleman is going to move to the Racecourse Ground, then he will either become their highest paid player, or he will have to take a significant pay cut.

The next highest earners in Parkinson’s side were Conor Coady and Jay Rodriguez, with the pair receiving £25,000-a-week, but the latter has since departed the club.

Meanwhile, the top earner at Blackburn, who are also interested in a move, is Todd Cantwell, with the forward receiving £30,000 per week.

Sean McLoughlin, Oladapo Afolayan, Augustus Kagbo, Yuki Ohashi and Harry Pickering are all the joint-second highest paid players on £15,000-a-week.

Given the difference in the size of their wage bills, Wrexham are more likely to have an edge in the race to sign Coleman, at least on financial terms.
