Adam Armstrong is set to join Wolves on deadline day, and now the financial details of the deal have been revealed.
Adam Armstrong is in the West Midlands for a medical at Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers, as he closes in on his Southampton exit, following a four-and-a-half year stint at St. Mary's.
The 28-year-old had previously been linked with a move to fellow Championship side Middlesbrough, but a late offer from the top flight's bottom-placed club has seen the striker return to the Premier League following the Saints' relegation in 2024/25.
Armstrong has been one of the standout performers in an inconsistent Southampton side this season, scoring 11 goals in 29 league games, but with Tonda Eckert's side battling in mid-table, their hold on the forward has been loosened.
Now, the financial details of his departure have been revealed, as the Saints prepare to say goodbye to their 2023/24 promotion hero.
Having joined Southampton in the summer of 2021 from Blackburn Rovers for a reported £15m, Armstrong never truly realised his potential in the Premier League, with his best season coming in the Championship for the Hampshire outfit.

Despite this, as per a report from Sky Sports, Wolves are willing to risk a £7m deal for the former Newcastle United man, while there is also a potential £2m to be added-on in other clauses in the next few years.
Armstrong signed a new three-year deal with Southampton in the summer of 2024, with his contract set to expire in 2027. However, he will now make his way back to the top flight as Wolves look to avoid an all but certain relegation to the Championship.
There is no denying that the Newcastle-born ace has been one of the second tier's very best strikers for a number of years. But, his form has never quite carried over to the Premier League, and with his new side in a very difficult position already, this is going to be a tough move for the 28-year-old.

Armstrong has scored just six goals in 88 games in England's highest division, while in the Championship, he has found the back of the net 91 times in 277 matches.
It's an extraordinary move for Wolves, and is perhaps one that shows that they believe their position is currently untenable and they are already preparing for next season.
Nonetheless, with nothing to lose, this is the perfect opportunity for Armstrong to finally show the Premier League what he is truly all about and finally start scoring consistently in the top flight.
