The winger could find himself remaining in the Premier League next season
With Ipswich Town heading back down to the Championship, they will incur a struggle to keep some of their standout players who proved themselves at this level during the 2023/24 campaign.
One of which will likely be Omari Hutchinson. The 21-year-old briefly became the club's record signing in the summer after joining from Chelsea in a deal worth up to £22.5 million.
Hutchinson netted 10 and provided a further six assists for Kieran McKenna's side en route to promotion whilst on loan at the club. Two years on, Hutchinson will know that he can continue to test himself in the Premier League, and he'll likely have suitors looking to bring him this summer.
In an exclusive interview with Football League World, former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie predicted that sides going up from the Championship - namely Leeds United and Burnley - should make a move for the dynamic Englishman.
"Lots of teams now have seen some of these players come up against top Premier League sides and perform, Hutchinson is one of them. Bright sparks and potential, it might be one of the clubs that are going up that might take a fancy and a hit on him."
On the back of this, FLW has looked at Omari Hutchinson's estimated weekly wage to see how much it would likely cost Leeds or Burnley per week to lure Hutchinson away from Portman Road.
According to Capology's estimates, Omari Hutchinson earns a mere £6,000 per week in his current contract at Ipswich Town.
With fellow summer signings Liam Delap, Jacob Greaves, Jack Clarke and Sammie Szmodics earning between £20-25k per week, this number could come as a shock.
When available, Hutchinson has been one of the first names on the teamsheet for Kieran McKenna, coming off the bench just once in his 27 Premier League appearances so far this season.
If any side were to come in for the 21-year-old this summer, the likelihood is that they will offer more than what is estimated Ipswich currently do. He may still be under contract until 2029, but the Tractor Boys may still find it difficult to persuade him to stay after this season.
When compared to the estimated wage bills of both Leeds United and Burnley, adding in someone earning a reported £6k a week shouldn't be an issue for the promoted duo.
Only third-choice goalkeeper Alex Cairns is estimated to earn less than Hutchinson at Elland Road, whilst just Enock Agyei and Jordan Beyer earn less than £6,000 per week at Burnley.
Leeds, especially, have been able to afford to hand out contracts north of £30,000 per week to their attacking players this season in the Championship, and it is expected that they, alongside Burnley, will be able to splash the cash this summer to give themselves the best chances of survival in the Premier League.
So, either side would likely be able to afford to pay Hutchinson next season. Whether he ends up at Elland Road and Turf Moor will ultimately depend on player fit and transfer fee.
