The Hammers and Lions will renew their rivalry for the first time in 14 years this season
The 2026/27 Championship lineup is stacked with local derbies and rivalries that either stretch back decades, or have just begun due to developments in recent times.
However, for many, the second tier's standout one-off fixture is set to be the return of West Ham United versus Millwall, with the two clubs last facing off against each other competitively in early 2012, months before the Hammers' last promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs was secured under Sam Allardyce.
Since that very fixture, which ended in a 2-1 win for the East London outfit at their former home of Upton Park, West Ham have moved into the 62,000-seater London Stadium, finished in the Premier League's European positions and won the UEFA Conference League trophy three years ago against Fiorentina.
Meanwhile, it has been 36 years since the last of Millwall's two seasons in club history in the top-flight came to an end, and even in the season where their bitter rivals moved to their current home, the Lions were in the midst of their last spell in League One.
However, last season was a prime opportunity for Alex Neil's team to leapfrog West Ham in the pyramid, but they fell short to Ipswich Town in the automatic promotion race on the final day, and were then defeated 2-0 on aggregate by eventual sixth-placed play-off winners, Hull City.
As such, plenty of comparisons are likely to be drawn between the two sides given the animosity associated with this fixture.
With that said, Football League World have decided to compare the sums of cash each set of fans would have to part with to purchase their new home shirts.

Despite their relegation from the Premier League, West Ham, as a club, now appear to be getting their fans back on side, with over 42,000 season tickets sold for the new season.
That also comes after the £85m sale of Mateus Fernandes to another major rival in Tottenham Hotspur, whilst several other big earners have been linked with a move away.
However, optimism that Jarrod Bowen could stay in E20 was only added to when the Hammers captain was part of the official launch of the club's 2026/27 home shirt, which also features 'Bonds Blue' in tribute to club icon, Billy Bonds.
That said, acquiring the kit doesn't come cheap whatsoever, especially if you opt for the 'elite' kit, which will be worn by the players, according to manufacturers, New Balance.
An 'elite' version for an adult comes in at a staggering £110, while a replica is £75, and a long-sleeved version would set you back £80.
Even for youngsters, the price of a kit is £60, meaning that a purchase later on in the season could be in store for some.

Meanwhile, Millwall's kit for the upcoming season is inspired by their strip of a decade ago, with the 2016/17 season ending with cult hero, Steve Morison, netting a late winner for the SE16 side against Bradford City in the League One play-off final at Wembley Stadium.
The Lions will also see their original crest return to the kit this term after a year of marking the club's 140 years of existence in 2025/26, with Errea, yet again, the manufacturers.
However, while it remains to be seen how the two sides fare on the pitch in this season's Championship, Millwall fans will be pleased that they don't have to part with as much money as those at the London Stadium to buy the new strip.
Indeed, an adult kit comes in at the £55 mark, while for juniors, it sets your bank balance back £45 at this moment in time, £15 cheaper than West Ham's version for their upcoming generation of fans.
It isn't that long either until the first Dockers Derby of the season takes place either, with that coming at The Den on Saturday, 19th September in a 12:30 kick-off, while the return fixture at the London Stadium is currently pencilled in for a 3PM start on Saturday, February 20th, although you can almost certainly predict another kick-off change due to policing and television requests.
