Egyptian King has agreed another huge contract

Mohamed Salah has signed a two-year deal with Trabzonspor in a shock move following his Liverpool exit.

Hundreds of fans turned out to greet the Egyptian star at Ataturk Airport earlier this week, before the forward signed a two-year contract.

The 34-year-old was a free agent after leaving Anfield this summer following nine years at the club, where he scored 257 times in 442 appearances and won two Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Salah was linked with several clubs this summer, and had received an offer from Trabzonspor’s Super Lig rivals Besiktas.

The two-time Premier League champions is a significant coup for Trabzonspor, who won the last of their seven Turkish league titles in 2022. The other six came during a golden period between 1976 and 1984.

They finished third last season, eight points behind champions Galatasaray, and face a play-off against opponents to be determined to qualify for the league phase of the Europa League. If they fall short, they will play in the Conference League.

How much will Salah earn at Trabzonspor?

As you can imagine, Salah will command a hefty salary in Turkey. It is said to be more than Victor Osimhen’s at Galatasaray, which was believed to be the highest.

Rather handily, Trabzonspor have confirmed the exact financial details of the deal. Salah will earn €17million a year, which consists of an annual salary of €10m plus a signing-on fee of €7m.

That works out at around £280,000 a week, including salary and signing-on fee, which is less than he was on at Liverpool.

Salah will receive performance-based bonuses for the duration of his contract, and 20 per cent of any ‘Mohamed Salah’ merchandise the club sell.
