Arsenal come into this one off of the back of a draw away in Spain against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-final first leg and an excellent performance against Fulham at the weekend. They ran out 3-0 winners with Viktor Gyokeres and Bukayo Saka both getting on the scoresheet.
Atletico Madrid were able to rest nine players in their La Liga fixture against Valencia this weekend. Despite that turnover however, they still ran out 2-0 winners in the match.
Mikel Arteta confirmed that both Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz will be in the squad even though they did not appear in open training earlier on Monday.
“Yeah, they are in the squad both of them,” he said.
“It’s great because we need options, the capacity to play different games tomorrow, whether from the start or after so it’s really, really good news for us to have them both back.”
Arsenal beat Atletico Madrid 4-0 last October in the group phase at the Emirates and this time Diego Simeone’s side are staying in a different hotel. The Uruguayan explained why.
“We are doing better than in October,” Simeone said. “And the hotel was cheaper. That’s why we changed.”
