Aston Villa had previously been in good form, but have now succumbed to three defeats in a row. A much-changed side lost 2-1 at home to Tottenham on Sunday evening. However they still remain in the top five in the Premier League.
Nottingham Forest’s fantastic form continued on Monday when a heavily rotated side defeated Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge. The Reds have won their last five in all competitions and have not tasted defeat since early March.
“I think we have players adding a lot of experiences,” said Villa boss Unai Emery. “We are usually getting highest level with the club, with the players. We are improving, myself as well, improving here.
“I don’t think tomorrow is the last opportunity for us or for anyone. And the players, of course, they are enjoying the process we are doing, and they are aware about how difficult is football, but how the greatest moment we are having here in Aston Villa the last three years, and we can smile and we can be proud of everything.”
“He has pain, for sure,” Forest boss Vitor Pereira said on star Gibbs-White, who suffered a nasty head collision. “We will see. We have until tomorrow to see if he is able or not. We will see.
“We have a lot of (injury) doubts. We can have doubts about the players (who might be fit), but we cannot have doubts about the spirit, about what we want, about how we believe, about resilience, about what we should do tactically. This is something we cannot doubt.”
