Jeremy Doku is expected to miss out for Belgium because of illness. Romelu Lukaku’s fitness is still being managed, meanwhile, with the striker not yet ready to play a full game.
Belgium (4-2-3-1): Courtois; Meunier, Ngoy, Mechele, De Cuyper; Onana, Tielemans; Trossard, De Bruyne, Fernandez-Pardo; De Ketelaere
Iran (4-4-2): Beiranvand; Rezaeian, Khalilzadeh, Nemati, Mohammadi; Mohebi, Ghoddos, Ezatolahi, Ghayedi; Moghanlou, Taremi
Both sides drew their opening games of the World Cup. Belgium scored a second-half equaliser to secure a 1-1 draw against Egypt, while Iran played out an exciting 2-2 draw with New Zealand.
Belgium boss Rudi Garcia on Iran: “They’re a team that runs a lot, defends well and is strong on set pieces. So, I’d say, we have to be at 100 percent of our ability tomorrow to beat this Iranian team. So, we’re focusing much more on ourselves than on the opponent.”
Iran’s manager Amir Ghalenoei has again criticised the travel difficulties imposed by the US government on his side: “We only managed to train half the time we usually spend on training. We wanted to have optimal physical and technical preparation.
“Look at the Belgium team. They arrived yesterday noon. They’ve managed to have proper training.”
